The Director of The Kotton Educational Therapy Center is Avlyn Kotton, MA. BCET [License # 10122],

a Board-Certified Educational Therapist  in practice for over twenty years in the Los Angeles area. 

 

Avlyn has a master's degree in special education and has worked in private and public school settings and as well as in private practice.  She has been an active member on the board of the Association of Educational Therapists where she held the positions of public relations, program director, business director, and website director. She has presented workshops at national conferences and taught assistive technology classes to students in the Educational Therapy Certificate Programs. She has trained schools and teachers in the use of assistive technolgy devices as an accommodation for students with special learning needs.

 

Avlyn also offers test preparation services focusing on the application process, understanding the content of various high school entrance examinations as well as interviewing techniques. 

 

Avlyn specializes in working with students from kindergarten through high school by implementing an individualized program that takes into account the individual’s academic, social, emotional and neurobiological learning needs.  She provides a nurturing environment so that students can thrive and reach their academic potential and improve their self-esteem and motivation.  Avlyn works with students from both private and public school settings and believes that by interacting closely with parents, school, and outside professionals such as psychologists, psychiatrists, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, a comprehensive program that looks at the "whole child" can be  successfully implemented.
